How IJMB Works

 

Prospective IJMB candidates are required to select any THREE (3) A/L IJMB Subject Combination identified with their preferred course of study in the university be it Science, Art or Social Science Course.
Candidates would then be lectured for the stipulated period at their respective Study Centre and thereafter sit for the final examination. On completion of the programme, successful candidates accordingly utilize their IJMB certificate to secure admission into 200level in any Nigeria tertiary institution via Direct Entry.

Welcome to IJMBONLINE Portal, I know you are here to find out about a programme that has been in existence for decades, if you are reading this now for the first time then you should be glad of getting an information like this. What you are about to find out is an A’level Programme, in other word I can say an advanced level programme, this programme has help ease thousands of students admission into different universities in Nigeria.

The name of this programme am talking about is called IJMB or IJMBE which means Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination, this programme was introduce by one of the premier university in Nigeria and also the number one university in the northern part of Nigeria named Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Zaria.

IJMB was the only recognized Advanced Level Programme then, after the cancellation of Higher School Certificate (HSC) and GCE A’Level, Some parent should remember that (70s/80s). IJMB has been existing for over 40 years now, though it was well recognized in the north then and as far as am concern IJMB has rapidly spread to the West and Southern Part of Nigeria, Partially in the East. This means that most universities in the North, West and Southern Part of Nigeria accept IJMB for 200 level admission, some university in the east accept IJMB also, but few.

The Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) was set up in 1974 under statute 5 of the Ahmadu Bello University Law to run the Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMBE) as an equivalent ‘A’ Level Examination, to students or candidates who may wish to seek undergraduate admission into Ahmadu Bello University and other Universities.

IJMB is a one year course designed to serve as intermediate course of study to train students from various institutions based on a syllabus to gain insight into basic tools of seventeen subjects for taking up advance studies in divert profession in any Nigerian Universities at 200 levels.
